Contextual Report for BCM112

jh2337

My DA comprised two projects: a podcast that failed miserably and marketing for my family’s moonshine company. I'll analyse them from a developmental angle, focusing on areas for improvement. This entails examining what, how, and why aspects, aiming to enhance planning, execution, and strategy effectiveness for future endeavours.

In navigating the development of both the podcast project and the marketing efforts for Myrrhee Mill's Moonshine, I encountered a series of loops within the design thinking process, each offering valuable lessons for future endeavours.

Starting with the podcast, technical challenges surfaced early on during recording using Discord and Debut, resulting in unusable footage and frustration. Realizing the need for a solution, I researched alternative recording software and transitioned to OBS for improved quality. Although this addressed initial issues, ongoing setbacks arose due to personal and scheduling conflicts. Reflecting on this experience, I recognised the importance of adaptability and effective communication in project management.

Similarly, marketing for Myrrhee Mill's Moonshine presented its own set of challenges, from coordinating footage to managing busy schedules. Despite these hurdles, I prioritised open communication and flexibility, recognising their significance in fostering collaboration and overcoming obstacles. Through both projects, I honed my skills in problem-solving and adaptability, learning to navigate complexities and drive progress amidst uncertainty.

As the design thinking process unfolded, I iterated through stages of empathising, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing. Each loop informed the next, guiding iterative improvements and deepening my understanding of project dynamics. By embracing this iterative approach, I navigated challenges, adapted to evolving circumstances, and pursued innovation in my creative pursuits.

Moving forward, these experiences serve as a foundation for future endeavours, informing my approach to project management and collaboration. By leveraging the principles of design thinking, I am better equipped to anticipate challenges, iterate on solutions, and drive meaningful outcomes in both podcasting and marketing efforts. Ultimately, this journey underscores the value of resilience, adaptability, and continual learning in the pursuit of success.

In the context of BCM112, a pertinent subject topic is "Participation and Collective Intelligence." This topic delves into the ways individuals collaborate, share knowledge, and contribute to collective endeavours in digital spaces. Drawing from this, my project experiences offer insights into the dynamics of collective intelligence within online communities.

Through the podcast project, I engaged in collaborative efforts with co-hosts and sought feedback from listeners, demonstrating the importance of collective input in shaping digital artifacts. Additionally, the marketing for Myrrhee Mill's Moonshine involved coordinating efforts among team members and leveraging their expertise to enhance project outcomes. Reflecting on these experiences through the lens of collective intelligence highlights the significance of collaboration, communication, and shared knowledge in digital project development.

Analyzing my projects within the framework of collective intelligence enriches my understanding of the interconnectedness of digital communities and the value of collective efforts in driving innovation and success. It emphasizes the need for open collaboration and leveraging diverse perspectives to achieve meaningful outcomes in digital endeavours
